In this small Q&A we interviews a young African American women. She is 18 years old and attended Rufus King High School, we chose Kendall because she is very involved within her community and peers at our school. We asked her questions surrounding patriarchy like what it meant to her, how she dismantles it in her house hold or friend groups and even how she see's a world without patriarchy. The audience that we were going for were African American teens because a very low percent of African American teens know about patriarchy, even when majority of their house holds preform patriarchy.
What is something you learned about patriarchy and what is something you would like to change about what you learned?
Something that I learned about patriarchy was that society has taught different ethnic groups patriarchy just all in different ways; for example in the African American community we are taught that the man is supposed to run the house hold and the women is posted to take care of the house and kids. Thought history things haven't been able to change and something that I would like to change about that is starting to educate our young people especially diverse ethnic groups and that we can continue to dismantle and change the narrative.
