My submission illustrates the struggles of lesbian couples in a patriarchal world, reflecting personal experiences as I have grown to discover more about my own sexuality. Printed with handmade stamps are just a few of the many harmful phrases directed towards lesbian couples that are constantly overlooked due patriarchal influence. A larger woman is constructed out of paper, shown raising scissors as I believe the best way to destroy (cut) this narrative would be for other women to support lesbian women when they witness such harassment in public.
What is something you learned about patriarchy and what is something you would like to change about what you learned?
During my research for this project I learned exactly how detrimental these phrases are even when said in a casual context. The patriarchy allows for this harm to slide.
